Environment Agency gives licence of approval to RPC Recycle

> 7th May 2010

RPC Recycle has just received the status of Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) by the Environment Agency, which means the site in Rackheath near Norwich has been deemed to be able to receive and handle waste goods responsibly for the purpose of refurbishing it into a valuable commodity.

The mobile phone recycling and refurbishment plant has been in operation for many years now as an Approved centre.  A new inspection has now identified good practice in accordance with WEEE (Waste, Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directives set out by the Environment Agency, and enabled the step up to AATF status.

The WEEE directive has been in place since 1997 and aims to improve the environmental performance of businesses that manufacture, supply, use, recycle and recover electrical and electronic equipment.  It also seeks to reduce the quantity of equipment being produced and to encourage everyone to reuse, recycle and recover it.
